(A preface to this is that this is as comprehensive as I could get without literally retelling the whole series... and I think I came pretty close. The links provided are also very detailed.) All Gundam series have one thing in common and that is conflict. In Gundam 00 the year is 2307 AD and the world's fossil fuels have all but dried up, this prompted the building of three solar pillars, or orbital elevators, which reach well past the stratosphere and into space to harness the inexhaustible power of the sun. While this should be a thing to rejoice about, the power is unevenly distributed, with three main world powers and their allies controlling all the power and wealth. There is the Union, the AEU, and the HRL, which control all of the power. Any country that didn't side with one of these three main powers upon the building of the towers, or more specifically the countries in the Middle East that relied heavily on fossil fuel exports are ravaged by poverty and civil wars as their countries crumble around them.

Now enters Celestial Being, a paramilitary group created by a genius from 200 years ago named Aeolia Schenberg, he worked extensively in solar energy and wished heavily for peace. Some of his more notable creations include the Gundams the group uses to fight with, a super advanced computer AI named Veda that is linked through all the Gundams and can be used as a strategic ally through their battles and the GN drives or Solar Furnaces that power the Gundams and their docking ship the Ptolemaios. The group announces after an armed intervention at the presentation of the AEU's new Enact mobile suit and interference of a terrorist bombing attempt on an orbital elevator that they wish for peace, but in order to assure peace, they will perform armed interventions against anyone who incites war. Basically, they will use war to stop war.

Enter the Meisters, the four pilots of the Gundams. Each was chosen by Veda for different reasons to carry out their long dead founders wishes. The only real thing that at first makes them at all similar is their mutual wish to end war. Each was given a code name and told to not share their histories with anyone else, the crews of their labs and docking ship were told the same.

Setsuna F. Seiei, or Soran Ebrahim, was born in the Republic of Krugis in the Middle East. His country was ravaged by poverty after the solar race and at a young age he met a mercenary by the name of Ali Al-Saachez who recruits him as a child soldier in the KPSA, a terrorist group created in Krugis which comprised of young brainwashed children taught in the ways of war. This was around the same time that their neighboring country Azadistan begins a war in order to consume the country. As a guerrilla, one of the first things he's told to do in order to accept the right to wage God's war against the infidels is to kill his own parents. He does so one night while his comrades do the same. He spends his young, impressionable years under the guidance of Ali Al-Saachez and learns guerrilla warfare. We later learn that this group and one of the Setsuna's comrades are directly responsible for the death of Lockon Stratos's (Neil & Lyle Dylandy) family.

At the end of the war, Soran is the only survivor of one attack because of the appearance of the Gundam 0, which was piloted by Ribbons Almark at the time who was running a test on if Armed Interventions could successfully be completed at the time. Soran was left alive by Ribbons because of the way the astounded child looked up at the mobile suit like it was a version of God, and later Ribbons tampered with Veda to have the program choose Setsuna as a Gundam Meister when the Innovade changed the plan and made humans be Meisters rather than Innovades.

What Soran did prior to becoming Setsuna and after the last battle in Krugis is unknown and has never covered in any of the resource material, the next time we see him is when he's picked as a Gundam Meister at the age of fourteen and officially introduced to the other Meisters. He pilots Exia and uses his close quarters fighting style to his advantage with the Gundams many swords and beam sabers. (Lockon jokingly says the Gundam would get the call sign 'Gundam Exia Seven Swords' if they kept giving it swords.)

Setsuna is sixteen at the time of their official reveal to the world. After their first armed intervention, Celestial Being continues to run many successful interventions, with global war dropping down to nearly 40% at one point, even the IRA the terrorist group in Ireland, lay down their weapons and officially announce the end of their activity. While public opinion of the group continues to get increasingly negative as the group attack anyone who participate in war, the group is unswayed and continue in their pursuit of a war free world. At one intervention in Moralia he meets Ali Al-Saachez again; the mercenary is piloting a mobile suit for the PMC-trust, a private company in the country that contracts mercenaries, makes weapons, and has a private army. He nearly costs Celestial Being their victory by recklessly stepping from his Gundam and pointing a gun at his enemy, he is later saved by Lockon in the Gundam Dynames. He's later refuted by Lockon, who punches him before demanding the reason for his actions, with Tieria pulling a gun on him for going against orders.

Later there is a point when a terrorist group by the name of La Edenra begins to attack cities with bombs, the group demand for Celestial Being to cease their interventions or they will continue to take innocent lives as a result. While stationed in Europe near a spot where both Veda and Celestial Beings strategist Sumeragi Lee Noriega forecast as the next bombing site, he meets Marina Ismail the new Princess of Azadistan who is on a mission to seek aid for her country. For reasons unknown, he gives her his codename and the knowledge of his being a Gundam Meister before leaving her after she saved him from an unfortunate meeting with the countries police while chasing one of the La Edenra bombers.

The two do not meet again until a later intervention when a rebel leader in Azadistan by the name of Massoud Rachmadi is kidnapped by Ali Al-Saachez to start a civil war in the country. The reformist party, with Marina at the head as the Princess of the country, is blamed for the kidnapping and war starts in the country. This is just after the UN has promised aid to Azadistan and the help in creating a solar farm to help power the country. Through their spy network headed by Wang Liu Mei, Celestial Being finds out about the kidnapping and starts an armed intervention against the terrorists that first attack the solar farm, with Ali Al-Saachez unfortunately successfully destroying it in a sneak attack, CB then go to rescue Masoud to end the Civil War before it breaks out past the point of no return. Setsuna meets Graham Aker (though he'd already crossed blades with the Union's ace in Moralia while in Exia) and Billy Katagiri, members of the Unions Anti-Gundam attack force who are there to capture any of the Gundams, Graham drops hints as to what he believes actually happened in the country which CB use to figure out where Masoud is, though it's Setsuna that finally finds him since he was being kept in what used to be Krugis. They successfully rescue Masoud and return him to the palace and a peace is struck between the two parties though the conflicts are not easily stamped out, it looks like they are on the road to true peace.

The next most notable battles for Setsuna are near the end of season one, around the time when the surveyor Alejandro Corner starts to taint Aeolia's plan and distort it for his own gain. The Gundams are over powered after one intervention that coincided with a military exercise between all three world powers, though the viewer’s understand the entire thing was a setup, with the HRL even letting an terrorist attack happen on a Uranium dumping ground in order to lure Celestial Being into action. The Gundams are trapped in various locations and continuously bombarded by missile and gunfire for well over fifteen hours. If not for the appearance of the Trinity siblings and their Throne Gundams, both Virtue and Kyrios would have been captured by the enemy. The Trinity siblings are not in the original Aeolia plan, their Thrones are not in Veda and no one in Celestial Being has any idea who they are or why they're there. At this point, the Gundam Meisters and Celestial Being halt all armed interventions in order to gauge what exactly the Trinity siblings are and their motives.

This proves costly as the siblings use total annihilation tactics during their missions which anger the pilots but more specifically Setsuna and Tieria and the two of them team up to take the three down. They are ultimately beaten even when Lockon joins the fight, Johann (the eldest of the three) shares classified information about both Lockon and Setsuna's pasts, specifically that Setsuna had been a member of the group that was responsible for Lockon's family’s death. This places tension on the two pilots though ultimately they work through it by Setsuna admitting to his past and reaffirming his belief in their cause, he also says that if Lockon were to kill him he was essentially okay with this.

After the failed attempt by the AEU, Union and HRL to capture the Gundams, all seems lost for the outgunned groups until Alejandro Corner helps leak the plans to create fake GN drives much like the Throne's use which make their units easier to keep up with the Gundams. The next series of battles with the world powers nearly end in defeat each time, with a final devastating battle in space by all three world powers which ends with all but four of the crew of the Ptolemy dying and almost all of the Gundams destroyed. The final battle for Setsuna is against Alejandro Corner and he is defeated before the Gundams and their pilots are beaten.

Season two starts after four years have passed since the final battle for Celestial Being. The three world powers have merged into one main power named the Earth Sphere Federation with one global military and one 'peacekeeping army' named the Autonomous Peace-Keeping Force or the A-laws, the A-laws are above all law and are ruthless with their tactics. They will indiscriminately kill any they believe against 'peace' and regularly use automatons, unmanned robots, in their missions.

During the four years, Celestial Being's attack force has fallen apart. Lockon having died just before the final battle, Allelujah being captured and kept on a island prison, and Setsuna having completely disappeared with Exia. While their strike force was gone, it hasn't stopped the group itself from developing new technology, including new Gundams and testing older ones like a Twin Drive Gundam that uses the Gundam 0's drive and one other.

While Celestial Being thinks Setsuna is dead, Tieria remarks that if he's alive he'll come to this next event. This event ends up being at the mining colony of Proud; Setsuna performs a personal investigation of the place. He finds out that it's workers are enslaved members of various rebel groups but most notably Katharon, a group that is against the Earth Sphere Federation. While there he meets Saji, his old neighbor from a time when he lived in Japan, the young man had been mistakenly taken into custody when he tried to stop a coworker from being taken who was a member of the group. Saji was marked as a terrorist and a member of Katharon, with this knowledge Setsuna brings him with him to the Ptolemaios 2.

He then recruits Lyle Dylandy, Neil's younger brother, to become the Gundam Meister of Cherubim and together with Tieria and Ptolemy they rescue Allelujah from his prison. During this rescue, Tieria lets Setsuna know that when going through the prisoners names, he spotted a particular name that Setsuna might be interested in. As a way to draw the Gundams out, Ribbons Almark (who at the end of season one admits to having used Alejandro Corner in his plans to take over Aeolia's plans as the true enemy of Celestial Being) had Marina Ismail kidnapped and held in the same facility as Allelujah.

Even with a squad of fake GN drive mobile suits there to meet them, a risky strategy by Sumeragi ensures the victory of the pilots.

Throughout the second season, the A-laws become increasingly cruel, with the ultimate reveal of the Memento Mori, a satellite weapon that used solar energy to fire a devastating beam that has the power to destroy a whole city. The A-laws turn it on the Kingdom of Seel first, then on another Middle Eastern country. The Gundams and the Plotemy race to the satellite to destroy it and are successful even with a mobile suit piloted by Innovade Hiling Cure on the scene. The Trans-am 00-Raiser (Raiser being an attachment that guidance locks to the 00 Gundam and helps with speed and maneuverability- it looks like a fighter jet until locked to the 00) proves too much for the other suits and Celestial Being is able to destroy the weapon because of the combined efforts of the other three Gundams still on board. Arios provides Trans-am speed to the ship, Seravee blowing a hole in the side of the weapon and Cherubim firing the final shot that destroyed it.

Victory is short lived as the Plotemy is shot down, with Nena Trinity giving Setsuna a brief replay of the events and the coordinates to find the ship on Earth. While searching for the ship, he runs into Ali Al-Saachez who survived the fight against Neil. The mercenary leads him to Krugis and Setsuna finally meets Ribbons who explains that Celestial Being is the actual problem in the world right now. Supposedly they were meant to be destroyed at the end of the final battle four years ago, the creation of the Earth Sphere Federation and the A-laws was all in the plans for a war free world that could then begin to colonize space.

Setsuna is shot by Ali Al-Saachez when he rebukes their twisted view on the world. Despite being injured he almost wins against the mercenary when they resort to fighting in their mobile suits but goes through a mental crisis when he uses the Trans-am in 00 which allows him to hear the thoughts of those around him. Early on in the series he used it with Saji Crossroad in the Raiser and they were able to hear Louise Halvey, Saji's old girlfriend who was piloting an A-law (she joined shortly after the death of her family at the hands of the Trinity's Thrones).

Seeking aid from Marina, who is still with Katharon since her country was razed to the ground by Ali Al-Saachez on Ribbons orders, the princess watches over him until he is well enough to leave. After a dream with Neil in it, Setsuna has a renewed purpose and joins up with Celestial Being once again.

Slowly the world around them starts to change; there is a coup in the Earth Sphere Federations military with a large portion turning against the A-laws. After an attack on the Africa orbital elevator, which was planned by the A-laws, some of the other major characters like Kati Mannequin (a colonel in the ESF military) have changes of heart and start to go against the A-laws. The ESF ends up giving all power to the A-laws and this begins the slow descent into the final battle of the show.

With the knowledge of their true enemies, the Innovades and the A-laws, Celestial Being get the idea that if they could retake Veda they could effectively cripple at least one of their enemies. The Innovades mobile suits use Veda as their operating system so they could lock them out easily like Ribbons did to them near the end of season one. With the help of Regene Regetta, an Innovade who earlier taunts Tieria with the true purpose of Aeolia's plans and who tries to thwart Ribbons Almarks plans, the location of the AI is given to them via Wang Mei Lui who at this point had been helping all sides in a desperate attempt to change her own future.

After a final battle with Graham Aker, now known as Mr Bushido because of the samurai-esque clothing and mask he wears to hide his scars from his final show down with Setsuna in the Exia, Setsuna and Saji are able to get the location to Celestial Being and then get everyone to the dark side of the moon which is where the computer is located. A grand battle happens between the A-laws and Celestial Being, Katharon joins mid fight with the final assistance of the old ESF military being what allows the pilots and the ship to get to the docking bay and allow Tieria and Lockon to infiltrate the facility. Outside, Setsuna battles with both Revive Revival and Hiling Care until 00 Gundam reacts to Setsuna's Innovator abilities and it allows him to use Trans-am Burst, which spreads the GN particles created by the GN drives all around the battlefield allowing everyone to hear each other and stopping the mutation caused by coming into contact with the fake GN particles. This helps Billy Katagiri and Sumeragi make amends and helps Louise Halvey and Saji as well. It is directly because of this (the pure GN particles hurt the Innovades) that Tieria is able to link his conscience with Veda after Ribbons 'kills' him. Since Tieria is an Innovade as well, he's able to transfer his conscience to the computer like Ribbons has done before and effectively takes it over. He's able to shut out Ribbons and shut down all the clone mobile suits attacking the Plotemy and automatons that were attacking the ship.

After this he infiltrates the asteroid that Veda is housed on and finds Tieria's dead body, promising to avenge him. Tieria, through Veda, lets him know about Aeolia's true plan, not the ones tainted by Ribbons or Alejandro Corners thoughts.

The series finally ends after another large battle, this time against Ribbons in his own Gundam as he tries to destroy the 00 Gundam and prove that he is the one meant to lead the world into the future. Ultimately he is defeated by a combined effort of the remaining three badly injured Gundams and finally Celestial Being is victorious.

The A-laws are soon disbanded, the ESF gets rid of their old top brass and it looks like true peace is on the horizon.

'i'll fight to live on.'-setsuna f seiei s2

Two years after the end of the series, the movie starts. The movie is focused on an organic life form called Extraterrestrial Living-metal Shape-shifters (ELS) that can infect mobile suits, even people and copy their technology or appearance. The metallic blob assimilates to a exploration station near Jupiter and starts its way to Earth. With the help of the 'first recognized Innovator' Captain Descartes Shaman, the new Federation army is able to destroy the ship however some of the pieces that should have burned up in the Earth's atmosphere upon re-entry end up making it to Earth. The Federation tries to calm the populace down saying everything was normal, however at every location of an impact very close by an accident has happened effecting those with high quantum brain waves or those considered to be highly acceptable to become the next Innovators. One of these masses attacks Louise Halvey and Saji Crossroad in the form of Ribbons Almark, Setsuna is able to save them but it takes literally blowing the thing to pieces. Another attacked Soma Pieres/Marie Parfacy and Allelujah Haptsim, Lyle shows up to save them and to call them back up to space.

The Meisters team back up, and they go to where the ELS's have amassed an army which the Federation has gone to destroy. The ELS completely wipe out the Federation force and then go for the Gundam Meisters. Upon the first real meeting with the ELS, Setsuna tries to communicate with them after getting continuous flashes of a feeling that we later find out to be a cry from the ELS's. Using the Trans-am Burst he tries to find out what they want but is put into a comatose state after receiving too much information that causes severe brain damage. Tieria sacrifices his newly formed body and the Gundam Rapheal to save him from being completely assimilated with the 00 Gundam. Tieria mentions that Setsuna might lose his memories or never wake up because of the damage, but that he believes he'll be there when they need him as he has such strong quantum brain waves they couldn't assume the worst.

During his comatose state, the ELS's have amassed in a near moon sized form and are on their way to Earth with a countdown of close to 92 days left till they reach it. Earths masses are informed and start to evacuate to shelters while battles happen in space and more mobile suits fall victim to the ESLs. Tieria asks to be installed into Setsuna's new Gundam 00 Qan[t] to help filter through some of the information that would come with being connected to the ESLs should Setsuna attempt it again. While in his coma he meets visions of Neil, Christina and Licht which switch to him appearing around the world by his comrades who are all fighting the ELS's before finally waking up with Feldt having come into the room and held his hand, crying over him.

When Setsuna wakes up he goes to meet the ESL's again, during the battle all the Gundams attempt to give him and Tieria the time they need to talk to the ELS's. It's not till Graham Aker sacrifices himself that they get the opportunity to reach the core of the ESL "ship" and finally 'speak' to each other. Through this dialogue it's revealed the ESL's have become space explorers after their home world was nearly destroyed by a red star. Through Setsuna's vision of the flower that Feldt gave to him at the end of season 2, the ESL's show their understanding that humanity doesn't wish to fight and transform their large attack force into the flower shape as a sign of peace. Setsuna decides that to fully understand the ESL's he and Tieria must go to their home world through a portal made from QAN[T] and thus spread understanding through the solar system.

50 years later, Setsuna is an ESL/Innovator hybrid, the ESL Flower shaped 'ship' is now used as a space port and true peace is finally achieved. A ship named after Sumeragi is about to set forth into Deep Space with an all Innovator crew. By now 25% of humanity has successfully evolved into Innovators and are peacefully living side by side by with everyone else.

Reincarnated History:
Deren was born to Emir and Savi Karim. Both of his parents are of Middle Eastern descent and are first born Americans after their families immigrated here prior to their birth. He has lived in Locke City for most of his life, though he was born in upstate New York. They moved to Locke City when he was seven after experiencing some distaste from their fellow neighbors. He doesn't remember much of it as they kept a lot of the comments clear of his ears and just knows the neighbors stopped liking him very suddenly and they moved shortly after.

Both of his parents were very loving, his father is a mechanic and his mother was a stay-at-home wife to take care of him. He was a fairly sheltered child, with his mother home schooling him until he was in the last two years of high school. He went to a public school for junior and senior years and experienced social shock. He hadn't been allowed access to a lot of the world’s vices as his mother believed in a pure life which also meant no artificial anything in their house. This included food and even no T.V. She had a small garden where she was able to grow all the food the family would need to live.

With the last two years spent in the public eye, and all the vices that come with teenage life style, Deren rebelled. He literally fell into the wrong crowd and followed after them eagerly. With his new friends he would party and stay up all night. His grades started to plummet and finally after high school he left his family to live with two roommates. His new 'friends' introduced him to a few different illegal substances, alcohol being a top offender. He was eventually picked up for underage drinking and was formerly reprimanded by his father.

With the growing unrest in the city, his parents moved out of the city and out to California at the beginning of 2013, leaving Deren to fend for himself though he finally apologized to them through a letter the relationship is nothing like it was before. Currently he works at a Starbucks close to Locke City University and just started his first semester with the intent to be an Engineer. As of right now his track is very generic, though he's toying with the idea of possibly specializing in Environmental Engineering. If not for a patron to his Starbucks, Reagan Quinn (Regene Regetta), he'd already be failing out of some of his classes. He lives in a very, very small apartment close to his work and is lucky to keep the power on some months. He recently started dating, someone he helps get into clubs with both their fake ID's and who he has considered getting a second job for since she's not a cheap date and he doesn't like being poor around her.

First Echo:
Tier 2: Ability - Wise Snake
During Wise Snake's attack, Deren had been downtown running an errand before an afternoon class. At one particular moment when the Numbers were fighting the large pink Snake he watched as scales fell off the thing and morphed into smaller snakes of their own. This frightening scene triggered a memory of watching the ESL's in the final battle against them, specifically when the metallic objects started turning into the mobile suits and fighters that were trying to hold them off while he was using some of his Innovator powers to try and get through to them. This also gave him back 30% of his Innovator abilities, though currently the only abilities he's starting to get is the slight ability to hear anyone with Quantum Brain Waves, a little better spatial awareness and his eyes slightly glow when in a completely dark room (Like near the end of Season 2 before he'd fully become an Innovator).

Preincarnation Personality:
Simply put, Setsuna's childhood was horrendous. He was named Soran Ebrahim and lived in the Republic of Krugis. At a young age he was seduced by a mercenary by the name of Ali Al-Saachez into becoming a child soldier. He helped to commit heinous acts which included the death of his own family, and the death of others in a 'holy war'. During these years he was trained in guerrilla warfare and the use of weapons of war. While he admits later that he knew something was wrong, that what they were doing wasn't right he didn't say anything except to question a childhood friend and receive a rough handling from it. It is during this time of his life that he loses his belief in any god. He was picked to be a soldier of God to fight in Gods war against infidels, and by the time his country is finally over taken by Azadistan, their neighbors, he's given up on any God completely. He becomes cynical in the last moments of his countries life. He questions where God is now, and that there can’t any God. However, it's also during this time of his life he meets a Gundam for the first time and finds a new purpose in life.

Ribbons was completing a field test of the 0 Gundam and to see if armed interventions were possible, the Innovade chose Krugis and killed everyone left on the battlefield that was the broken city. He was supposed to leave no survivors but he saw Soran and left him alone, all because Soran was looking up at him like he was a God. It's at that moment that Soran saw a creation that he could use to stop something like his life from ever happening again.

Besides this short look into his past, we learn next to nothing about what he does between then and becoming a Gundam Meister, but upon his appearance in the show, he's introverted and near monotonous in his speaking. He tends to stick to himself and doesn't really care about the other members of Celestial Being. At first he follows orders easily, but becomes increasingly reckless when triggered by specific things such as the appearance of Ali Al-Saachez, the mercenary that recruited him as a child.

He at first doesn't show much remorse for his job, he fights almost robotically, stating he wishes to become a Gundam frequently. We find out this actually means he wants to be a being that's purpose is to fight to end war. He doesn't seem to actively care about the other pilots, or care about their feelings about him and continues on.

Much of the first season he stays exactly the same, with slight transgressions because of appearances of people from his past or people connected to his past. It isn't until he meets Marina Ismail that we see a small change in him. He starts to question the world and his own path in life, specifically he questions her. 'Why is the world distorted' he asks her, leaving before he can get an answer. Throughout the series, he admits that they share the same ideals. They both want peace; however he can only fight for it while she has the power to seek peace through another path. He saves her during the second season, and forces her to return the Katharon base when it is revealed that Azadistan is destroyed. While their relationship isn't one of romance, they actively admit to not having that kind of relationship at all, there is a certain measure of caring. She is often superimposed over his mother in his dreams; to him she is a person who can live in a peaceful world one he doesn't necessarily believe he can once they achieve it.

Its visions of Marina that show a lot of his inner thoughts, she appears in a dream telling him it's okay to stop fighting. When he wakes up, he worries he's wavering, thinking that maybe he actually does want to stop fighting. When she was kidnapped and he saves her, she offers for him to come back to Azadistan with her and help rebuild. He turns her down because he can only fight, that's his purpose.

the meaning to our existence...is to live. to remember those who have died and face the world. god doesn't exist. i will...through my own will...-setsuna f seiei s1

When the Trinity siblings make their appearance in the first season, Setsuna has evolved enough that he shows his hate for them openly. He reacts violently to Nena kissing him. He doesn't agree with their ethics and eventually targets them as distortions in the world. He and Tieria even team up when up to that point both pilots haven't liked each other in the least, Tieria had threatened to kill him on multiple occasions if he compromised the team. Together they fight to take them down. He hates them because of their tactics, he is willing to wage war to end war, but Celestial Beings tactics always try for the least amount of causalities, they accept the deaths of those that have fallen however they don't kill to kill. The Trinity's way of fighting is massacre to achieve victory; killing innocent civilians in the process without any care. They even seem to take enjoyment out of it.

Slowly he begins to show emotions more, namely he begins to show that he cares for his fellow pilots. The straw that breaks the camel’s back is when Lockon Stratos (Neil Dylandy) dies in battle. He was their leader and was the only pilot to immediately accept Setsuna into the fold despite his age or cold manner. He constantly tried to be friendly to him even after learning of his involvement with the terror group that killed his family.

With the death of Neil, Setsuna's heart finally starts to align; he gets some of the answers to his questions. That his purpose is to destroy the distortions in the world, no matter where or what they are, to achieve peace. He has dreams of Neil telling him to change in a world where he can't. Neil becomes another aspect of his moral compass, a guiding light like Marina. After the end of season one he even goes and visits Neil's family grave since the dead pilot can't any longer and leaves flowers for them.

It isn't until the second season that he really develops as a character. He opens up to his pilots more, caring for them and even has a friendship with Tieria. His relationship with Tieria improves by far the most. They go from literally pointing guns at each other during disagreements, to Tieria vouching for him and going out of his way to tell him about Marina's imprisonment. He is visibly just as shaken by Tieria's death as he is of Lockon's and vows to get revenge for the pilot.

When it's announced that Allelujah has been found after he had been imprisoned for four years in an old HRL facility, he smiles and mentions to Saji upon the others statement of 'Even you can smile' that he can 'smile when there's a reason to'. He cares for his fellow pilot now and in a way he takes over Neil's position as leader.

After Anew turns out to be an Innovade and tries to steal the 0 Raiser with Revive Revival, he offers Lyle that if he can't take the shot because he loves her too much, he'll do it for him. He'll take on that responsibility for him. Lyle comments that he can do it but Setsuna argues that there are more reasons for him not to do it, he understands that Lyle loves her and shouldn't have to kill her. In the end he has to kill her for Lyle. Lyle is able to convince her to come back with him and fight against Ribbons, or more specifically to be his woman again, but Ribbons takes control of her and is going to kill him. Setsuna takes the shot and all the hate that could come with it to save his comrade. He doesn't hide the fact he was a KSPA agent from Lyle after that, explaining he could kill him if he wanted, which is much of the same that he told Neil when he found out about it.

By the end of the series, Setsuna has opened up to the crew members as well. He becomes friendlier and speaks with them when they seek conversation with him, when in the first series he didn't usually answer any question that weren't related to a mission. While he's all together friendlier he still remains introverted in the way that he doesn't actively seek out conversation himself. He also begins to trust people more. He watches as Saji goes to steal the 0 Raiser to go to Louise, he could stop him but he doesn't. He stands and watches, waiting to see what the other boy will do. After they find Louise on the battlefield, Setsuna takes all of Saji's hate; he doesn't rebuke him and even attempts to give him advice. Clumsy as it is, it does end up being the reason that Saji is able to help the others and stay with Celestial Being. He continues to go out in the 0 Raiser with Setsuna in any battle they take on the A-laws to try and talk sense into Louise.

Throughout the series as a whole, Setsuna doesn't come to hate many people. The Trinity Siblings and Ali Al-Saachez earn the most amount of hate, with violent reactions coming from him upon sight. Even when it comes to Ribbons he doesn't seem to hate him. He recognizes that the Innovade is a distortion and that he will not allow peace in any form. Ribbons to him was a danger to the people that he cared about and the world he'd fought so hard to help create, and was still creating. In a side story, Ribbons and Setsuna's final battle conversation is longer, in it he admits to Ribbons when the Innovade rebukes him for wanting to kill the being the saved him, that yes Ribbons did in fact save him. That he was just born and waiting for death before Ribbons appeared in the 0 Gundam. Specially, he says something to the effect of:
"That's right. Because you were there, I am here. On that day, I met you and I was born." - Translation by ninteenpointzerofour

He doesn't hate him, but he is an obstacle and he will destroy him and does in the end after he's fully transcended into becoming an Innovator.

By the time the movie starts, there's a two year gap that isn't accounted for. Setsuna reverts back a little, becoming a little colder because of his Innovator abilities. Milienia admits he seems different recently, more closed off. He doesn't speak to them as much about things, and when he does his answers are short. Lasse mentions that it might be because Setsuna is now an Innovator and might feel completely apart from them now because he doesn't know what to do with his new powers or how to converse with them about it. It's my belief that also because of his powers, which allow him to get a sense from people in those early years, that he distanced himself and became more quiet because he didn't necessarily have to speak to them to get their feelings. Eventually though, he opens up again and the series ends with him keeping a promise to Marina that he would see her again, holding her as she cries into him.

In closing, Setsuna develops as a character from a singular person, introverted in a way that ends with him being hostile to even his allies, to a person who wants nothing more than to help spread peace and true understanding. He becomes friendlier and more openly caring about his allies; he finds his way in the world and his reason for living. By transcending into the first human Innovator he means to lead the world to a war free future, and has the strength of heart to succeed.

Any differences:
- Temperament- Deren is a lot more talkative then Setsuna ever was. He can be fairly friendly and is pretty easy to talk to on any normal day. Unfortunately, he's developed a bit of a trigger and snaps easily when provoked. Act curt to him and he will snap back. He's quicker to lash out with violence over words. He has had to sit down with a counselor at LCU at least once and will reference 'steps' because he had to go through a few courses on anger management after he was picked up by the police. While Setsuna was willing to let his comrades hate him if they needed to, Deren will not let himself by wrongfully accused. He's old enough now to realize why they moved and gets angry when people ask him question about his religion because they assume he's Muslim. He will correct someone cruelly and embarrassingly depending on exactly how pissed off he is at that moment.

- World Views- Deren does not trust the Government in any way and will not like that the Gundam pilots are letting the Government govern how they use their Gundams. To him the idea of Violence to stop Violence makes sense and might want to follow his past self in armed interventions even if his end game isn't the same as Setsuna's.

Abilities:
GUNDAMS:
Exia | 00/00 Raiser | Exia II | 00 Raiser Condenser Type | 00 Qan[T]

Like many Gundam series, the pilots usually get a lot of variations for their Gundams. Setsuna goes through three separate Gundams, and a few modified versions of these three. His final Gundam is the 00 Qan[t] which has Tieria as a hologram in it to help with the final fight against the ESL's in the movie.

GN DRIVE: Also called Solar Furnaces, they use GN particles to work and are what facilitate humanities evolution into Innovators. It's discussed by Ian Vashti that he suspects there will be a lot more Innovators in the future because Setsuna used the Trans-am Burst at the end of season 2.

"Like every other power source, a GN Drive has a limited moment-by-moment output; however due to its very nature a GN Drive will continue to supply power for a theoretically infinite period of time, so long as the GN drive is not pushed to breaking limits. Within the context of mobile suit combat, it affords a unit the benefit of an inexhaustible power supply. The non-existent heat signature of its internal processes, combined with the GN Particle emissions, give any unit with a GN Drive a potent mix of stealth and ECM characteristics; neither the GN Drive nor any thruster emissions can be seen by infrared sensors and the GN Particles scatter radar and disrupt long range communications. " - MSG wiki

INNOVATOR: After the end of the second season, Setsuna has become the first human Innovator, the reach of his abilities have never fully been explained. What was shown is that he can anticipate danger and read his enemies movements better, he can also communicate using quantum brainwaves, and his life span is significantly longer than a humans.
"Their abilities (as revealed in 00 movie narration) are the capability to use quantum brainwaves to communicate with each other and machine interfaces designed to do so, increased spatial awareness, the ability to use any available information to analyze with a high level of accuracy and predict what will happen. Additionally, they possess roughly twice the life span of a regular human." - Mobile Suit Gundam wiki about Innovators

INNOVATOR/ESL HYBRID: Specifically after the movie, he's shown having merged with the ESL's. This gives him a greyish metallic skin and grey hair. He's 73 by this time but looks exactly the same as when he was 21. It isn't stated if he's immortal but he might just be.

PHYSICAL & COMBAT: Being a Gundam pilot puts the body under a lot of stress. Much like fighter pilots he must be able to handle extreme G's and have a lot of endurance. In the attack against the Uranium facility, when the three world powers team up to attack them, the barrage lasts for over 15 hours and Setsuna is still able to control his Gundam despite his age (he was 16 at the time). He's the shortest of the Meisters but doesn't lack any in combat, he was trained in guerrilla warfare and close combat. With Exia being a close quarters Gundamn, he's a perfect fit as he adapts the skills he learned in the KSPA to the battlefield. He uses the same fighting style so exactly that Ali Al-Saachez can tell that the pilot is a one of the child soldiers he trained in Krugis.

Roleplay Sample - Third Person:
"I wanted a Mint Chip Double Mocha Caramel Frap with light mocha. What don't you understand about that?" The man in the grey suit says with a sneer, his eyes on him like he's a bug on his favorite pie. Deren can barely keep a straight face, he feels the muscle in his lip twitching, his jaw clenching around his words as he holds a hand out for the drink.

"I'll make you a fresh one sir." He answers with the customer service correct statement for this situation at least in the eyes of the company he worked for. While he'd love to throw the drink on the customer to show how damn 'light' the mocha could be when he specifically asked for 'double' he unfortunately can't or he'll risk losing his job. No, he'd definitely lose his job, there's no risk about it.

Turning his back on the sneering asshole, Deren shoves the drink to the side and starts the long process of remaking it. They have a line nearly out the door and here's Mr. Holier than Thou making them behind. Thankfully he's become fairly decent at multitasking, so while one drink is mixing he starts another.

"Hurry it up. I have places to be. Important places to be." The man calls to him, snapping his fingers like he's a trained dog. Marie, one of the pickup shift girls today looks at him quickly, she knows about his temper, they were in High School together and she presses a smile out at him. A silent 'Keep Calm' on her face while Asshole keeps complaining behind him.

With a finish of whipped cream he slides the drink back to him, hoping the guy won't throw any more abuse their way until he's at least half way to the door.

His luck must have run out this week because just as Deren is reaching to throw the incorrect drink away, the guy slams down one final comment. "You better throw that away Ahmed or I'll call the health inspectors."

"What di-" Josephine thankfully steps in front of him, nodding to the back. "Go take your break." He's only gotten by here with his temper because she felt bad for him when he'd walked into the store with ratty jeans and a bag filled with college books. Since then he's always shown up early, taken as many shifts as they could give him and learned to work fast. His tempter though- Taking a breath he presses a smile out to her, something friendly before slipping to the back.

Today was just a bad day.

[TEXT- WRITTEN]

[His hand writing is pretty clean, if not a little blocky, like someone who has been told his handwriting was horrible one to many times and has desperately tried to fix it. It's at least easy to read, even as he starts writing, scratching out whole sentences as he goes.] Do we need to introduce ourselves like AA I'd ask if this was all some weird April Fool's joke but that Snake was plenty real. Who the hell let that thing out? I assume we have no idea who actually did that? I haven't gone too far back in this thing to check.

[There's a pause before finally he's writing again.] So how do we plan to use these 'powers' and things to help us out?
